Better late than never? Too late to make a difference? Or alternatively: "I didn't know we still had any teaching unions"?

Serious foot-shooting. There really isn't a strong voice for strike action at present. There will be little public support. It all gives the government another stick with which to beat teachers and unions.

I disagree with tom clancy. This is long overdue in my opinion, and a cute approach. Although, to really blow (Michael) Gove's "Let's return to a system of final examinations" dreamboat out of the water, they should be calling the strikes for the days that most students sit English language and maths examinations for maximum disruption.

There will be little public support. There was little support for us when we went on strike in the 1970s and 1980s, so nothing changes.

Isn't this exactly what Gove wanted for his all-out war with the unions? Personally, I think we're just playing into his hands; he can again be seen the saviour on television berating all the evil teachers. …
