Ex-Intandem Boss Launches New Firm

EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Intandem boss Gary Smith has revealed details of his new production and financing company Blue Ocean Media.

The LA-based company, which he heads alongside Jeremy Wall, is moving head with one of the films that Smith developed in his time at Intandem, Gil Junger's $10 million 10 Things I Hate About Life.

This has been financed through British equity and EIS, the Californian tax credit, a few pre-sales and some gap financing.

The film had shot for two weeks but was postponed because star Evan Rachel Wood was pregnant. Shooting will resume in November. Sales are being handled by Howard Kaplan at Fusion Films.

Blue Ocean media aims to emphasize marketing and social media activities alongside production but won't be involved directly in sales. It will actively promote young talent.

Smith's new company has several other projects in development. Among these is low budget horror Terrortory, a Bermuda Triangle-style yarn set in the aftermath of a deadly plane crash. …
