FIP Germany Readies Doctor, Rico

Fox International Productions (Germany) has lined up two films on the back of Matthias Schweighofer's box office smash Break-Up Man, the top German release of the year so far on more than $24m.

The first of the new titles is teen comedy Playing Doctor to be directed by Marco Petry from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jan Ehlert.

The Lieblingsfilm Munchen production will shoot in Munich and Robert Marciniak and Philipp Budweg produce. Playing Doctor has received funding from Hessen Invest and the German Federal Film Board.

FIP Germany has earmarked a late summer start on the adaptation of Andreas Steinhöfel children's book Rico, Oskar And The Pasta Detectives.

Director Neele Leana Vollmar [pictured] will shoot in Berlin and Leipzig and the film tells of a youngster who embarks on a wild hunt through Berlin to save his friend from what appears to be a kidnapping. …
