India's Golden Bird Entertainment is planning to open a $60m studio facility in Mumbai at the end of this year.

Currently under construction, the facility aims to be a one-stop shop for local and international crews with sound stages, post-production, broadcast and VFX facilities, theatres, hotel accommodation and equipment hire.

Located on in Kandivali, north of Andheri where Mumbai's film and TV industry is mostly based, the site is scheduled to become operational in December.

"Mumbai is a huge production centre but there are a lack of world-class facilities in the heart of the city, so there's a big supply and demand problem," said Golden Bird founder Mohinder Walia. …
