Panh's the Missing Picture Wins Cannes UCR Prize

The Un Certain Regard prize for Cannes 2013 has gone to Rithy Panh's The Missing Picture (Cambodia/France).

The hybrid documentary about Panh's adolescence in a Khmer Rouge labour camp uses archive footage as well as re-enactments using clay figures. Films Distribution handles sales.

The jury prize went to Hany Abu-Assad's Omar, the directing award went to Alain Guiraudie's Stranger By The Lake, A Certain Talent prize wen to the ensemble cast of Diego Quemada-Diez's La Jaula De Oro, and the Avenir prize went to Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station.

The jury, headed by Thomas Vinterberg, also included Zhang Ziyi, Ludivine Sagnier, Ilda Santiago and Enrique Gonzalez. …
