Saxophonist Wayne Escoffery and his wife, singer Carolyn Leonhart do not work together often (citing a concern about treading on each other's space as a concern in the notes), but here they work together beautifully. They do not function as a singer and her accompanist(s) (as happens on most projects such as these), but as coequals, with each one taking on solo features and duets.

The program is a mix of standards (Key Largo treated gently and If Dreams Come True being almost completely deconstructed), Jazz numbers (Lee Morgan's Desert Moonlight, Kenny Barron's Never Too Soon and Hank Jones' Angel Face) and originals by one or both of the principals. …
