Roots of Modern Jazz - The Be Bop Era - Volume 21 - soft bound 8 1/4 x 11 3/4 Inches, spiral binding, 86 pages - written by Dieter Salemann - price 20 Euros

Dieter Salemann has published another fine publication. Many have been reviewed on these pages previously. This time his subject is three piano players, namely Gene Di Novi, George Wallington and Hank Jones. He covers each of them for a period starting in 1944 and ending in 1950 for Di Novi and Jones and 1953 for Wallington. His format is much the same as in prior efforts, not only giving a wealth of discographical information but also tracking each artists professional activity in some detail. He starts each artist's section with a brief biography. The publication also has a name and song title index as well as a bibliographic page.

The work that goes into each of these publications is amazing. As stated above, several have been reviewed on these pages in the past and each time I see one I am once more grateful for his superb efforts. Anyone interested in jazz discography information owes him a tremendous debt. The book is also user friendly. By that I mean it has a spiral binding which permits each page to lay flat. The print is very readable and his use of English is excellent. Every one that has been sent to me has been published in English. I have no idea if this work Is available in any other language

It is important to advise that you need to communicate with Norbert Ruecker, seller of books, videos and DVDs, at P. …
