The award-winning actress also has a recording career. Her debut U.S. single is out this summer


Chopra won the Miss World pageant in 2000, and became a Bollywood actor, like her compatriot, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The 31-year-old has 45 films to her credit. In 2010, she hosted a season of Khatron ke khiladi the Indian version of Fear Factor.


"For me success is about taking chances ... pushing the envelope and giving it everything you have. It's been a great year, and I am overwhelmed with the success of both Barfi and my music debut. I have just started work on my next film, (in which) I play the role of world champion (Indian boxer) and Olympic medalist Mary Kom, in a film inspired by her amazing journey."


Chopra was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for child rights in 2010. Plus, she is involved with NGOs that deal with violence against women, and raises funds for causes that educate girls in India. In April, she won the actress prize at the Times of India Film Awards in Vancouver for her portrayal of an autistic woman in Barfi.


Chopra is in the voice cast of Disney's Planes, set for an Aug. 9 release. Barfi was India's entry in Oscar's foreign-language film category last year. …
