OXFORD, Pa. - An audit at Lincoln University has found questionable transactions - including conflicts of interest -- involving the school's former lawyer and its former top financial officer, the university announced.

Both attorney Richard H. Glanton and the former fiscal chief, Eugene L. Cliett. have denied doing anything improper.

The university said its auditors had found that Glanton. as president of the Barnes Foundation art collection. had approved $174,000 in Barnes payments to a company owned by Cliett at a time when Cliett was approving Lincoln's legal fees to Glanton`s law firm, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported

Officials at the Chester County university said they nic>uld send their audit report to the state auditor general, attorney general, and governor's office, as well as to legislative leaders.

Cliett said the school had misconstrued his actions.
