Anyone with a taste for the da nee-happy polyrhythms that made Paul Simon's Gmceland so vibrant should make a beeline for the Garifuna Collective's latest album, with its English- language vocals from Canadian singer-songwriter Danny Michel. The Garifuna, a coastline community of the descendents of Carib and Arawak Indians and African slaves escaping the plantations of the West Indies, are located in Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. Much of their music - light on its feet and with an emphasis on the voice - has been disseminated in recent years and its stars, such as producer Ivan Duran and the late musician Andy Palacio, are well established. So what can Danny Michel bring to this?
