Berlinale Accreditation Fee Up 25%

The Berlinale has introduced a 25% price hike for festival accreditation for next year's film festival (Feb 6-16).

The charge for the general festival accreditation has increased from [euro]100 to [euro]125.

While the special "early bird" discount of [euro]100 will again operate for a limited period until Nov 30 for the market badge ([euro]200 instead of [euro]300) or the combined festival accreditation and market badge ([euro]325 instead of [euro]425), the standard festival accreditation remains at the new regular rate of [euro]125 until the deadline of Jan 6, 2014.

All three badge categories incur a late fee of [euro]50 for any registrations made from Jan 7 onwards.

Germany's arthouse cinemas association AG Kino-Gilde, which represents 307 cinema-owners operating a total 544 screens and also has a number of distributors as members, reacted to the news of the price increase by calling on festival director Dieter Kosslick to waive the higher charge for arthouse cinema-owners and to improve the availability of tickets for professionals from the cinema sector. …
