Warner Bros top brass confirmed the studio's 2013 number one ranking on January 3 as worldwide grosses reached a company record $5.035bn.

International box office for the calendar year registered a company record $3.014bn as reported first on Screendaily, while North America generated $1.89bn.

This marks only the second time a studio has crossed $5bn globally and the fifth consecutive year Warner Bros has crossed $4bn -- a new industry record.

In another unprecedented Hollywood achievement, Warner Bros has breached the $1bn barrier internationally and in North America for 13 years in a row.

Ten films grossed more than $100m in the international arena led by The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug on $450m (it currently stands at $483.4m), Gravity on $408m and counting, Man Of Steel on $377m and Pacific Rim on $310m. …
