Paramount Pictures International opens the Chris Pine spy thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in 31 territories this weekend in a serious threat to reigning champion Frozen.

Shadow Recruit, directed by Kenneth Branagh who joins the cast alongside Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner, is set to arrive in China, Russia, Australia, South Korea and Mexico and is expected to dominate the international arena. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones has raced to more than $35m.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International's Frozen opens in South Korea and Turkey. The Oscar-nominated Golden Globe winner continues to surge ahead and has amassed $402.1m and counting.

Saving Mr Banks on $10.5m debuts in a handful of markets including Hong Kong this weekend. Turning to a DreamWorks duo, Delivery Man has reached an early $9m and The Fifth Estate $1.5m.

Lone Survivor, the number one film in North America heading into the weekend, opened in China through E Stars on January 14 and arrives this weekend in Taiwan and Malaysia through IM Global's pan-Asian rights-buying unit Apsara.

Foresight Unlimited licenses international rights on the film, which is set to open in the UK through Universal on January 31.
