Stars to Shine at GREAT British Film Reception

A constellation of UK talent is preparing to honour home-grown Oscar nominees at the GREAT British Film Reception at the British Consul-General's residence in Los Angeles on Friday (28).

The event kicks off 2014's Creativity Is GREAT campaign and is hosted by the British Consul-General Chris O'Connor, 12 Years A Slave director and Oscar nominee Steve McQueen and the British Film Commission, in association with Jaguar Land Rover and Virgin America.

Aside from McQueen, nominees expected to attend include Philomena co-writer Jeff Pope and producers Gabrielle Tana and Tracey Seaward, Gravity production designer Andy Nicholson and set decorator Joanne Woollard, effects experts Chris Lawrence and Neil Corbould and editor Mark Sanger.

The roster includes Gravity sound mixers Christopher Benstead and Chris Munro, sound editor Glenn Freemantle and composer Steven Price.

Captain Phillips sound mixers Mike Prestwood Smith, Chris Munro are invited, as are sound editor Oliver Tarney and composer Steven Price, Iron Man 3 effects artist Christopher Townsend, Prisoners cinematographer Roger Deakins and The Act Of Killing director Joshua Oppenheimer

Rounding out the nominees are The Voorman Problem writer-director Problem Mark Gill and writer-producer Baldwin Li for best live-action short and The Lady In Number 6: Music Saved My Life director Malcolm Clarke and producer Nicholas Reed for best documentary short. …
