The South Korean 4D cinema company will bring its 4DX technology to the Las Vegas convention.

CJ 4DPlex claims the design makes the audience feel immersed in a film by stimulating the senses through features such as motion, wind, strobe, fog, vibration, mist, rain and scent-based special effects.

The newest version of the technology includes more realistic motion effects including natural chair movement, upgraded water system to simulate rain, the ability to switch the water on or off and LED lights on the footrest for safety.

Since its debut in 2010 with a screening of Avatar, 4DPlex has installed more than 14,000 seats in 91 theatres across the world.

CJ 4DPlex will announce the 100th theatre to incorporate its 4DX entertainment at CinemaCon, when visitors will be able to sample the product.

The most successful 4DX film in 2013 was the Oscar-winning Frozen (pictured), which generated a 15-30% higher occupancy rate than its 2D and 3D counterparts in the countries where the technology was made available - namely Brazil, Columbia, Guatemala, Korea, Peru and Russia. …
