'Gettingpolicy right' is aim

Welsh Finance Minister Jane Hutt has announced the creation of a tax advisory group to provide input and support as Wales develops its devolved tax policy. As well as tax professionals and experts, it includes representatives from the CBI, Law Society and the Wales TUC. 'As we gain more financial powers it is essential that we get it right,' said Hutt.


Consultancy costs down 18%

Northern Ireland's Finance Minister Simon Hamilton has welcomed as 'encouraging' an 18% drop in consultancy costs. He said the figure, in the finance department's annual compliance report on the use of external consultants, showed the commitment of the Northern Ireland Executive to critically examine its need for external services.
