SHRM to Open Office in California, Join White House Initiative

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will open an office in Sacramento, Calif., in the first quarter of 2014 to house two staff members in member engagement and state advo- cacy, announced President and CEO Henry G. "Hank" Jackson to SHRM volunteer leaders at the Society's annual Leadership Conference in November 2013.

More than 875 chapter and state council leaders attended the gathering.

The Sacramento office "will help us support our California members as well as widen our influence and expand our national presence," Jackson said.

SHRM is also joining in a new White House-led initiative to address long-term unemployment.

"Long-term unemployment is a very vexing, very real problem in this country, and we all have a role to play in solving it," Jack- son said. …
