When we left Marty Dew last month, he was in Los Angeles, preparing to shoot the latest batch of Pepsi commercials featuring Beyonce Knowles. Although he was one of 10 dancers to lose a featured spot because of budget cuts, he was asked to stay on as an extra. Though that meant a lot of standing around, at least he was standing around Beyonce.

Getting bumped from the dancing role didn't set Marty back for long. Soon after, he got a call from his agency, Clear Talent Group, about a gig on the TV show "Boston Public." Marty admits to having never seen the show, but is happy to be one of the principal dancers as well as to have a speaking part-his first acting role. "It was great," he says. "One of my roommates is an actor, so I've been trying to get hooked up with some acting classes in L.A. It's definitely something I want to get into."

If you missed the episodes, which appeared in late February and early March, Marty played a high school student named Tyrone, who is one of the stars of the school play. "It's based on Grease and we dance to songs like 'Leader of the Pack' and 'My Baby Loves the Hanky Panky,'" says Marty. Tamyra Gray, from the first season of "American Idol," has a recurring role in the show. "Her character is a timid, shy girl and all her girlfriends are trying to get her to be sexy for the play," Marty says. "In one scene we're sitting around, talking, and she walks out in a robe. She takes her robe off and she's in this sexy outfit. Basically, I'm one of the guys checking her out and saying, 'Woohoo, look at her. …
