More Employers Migrating to the Cloud

More companies replaced rather than upgraded their human resource management systems (HRMS) last year, according to an annual survey from consulting and technical services firm CedarCrestone Inc. This was the first time in the poll's 16-year history that it hit that tipping point. Employers continue to migrate to cloud-based HR management services from onsite or hosted licensed systems.

"Organizations are moving more to the cloud because the solutions that are available have a more enticing user experience, not just for HR but also for employees," said Alexia Martin, CedarCrestone vice president for research and analytics.

That being said, licensed on-premises HRMS still prevail overall and likely will for a few more years, the survey found. The percentage of employers replacing their HRMS was only 15 percent, compared with 14 percent that were upgrading. Some companies may have completed an upgrade in recent years and need to wait before transitioning to the cloud. …
