Not only the band but the audience was having a great time that evening in April of 1947. Everyone was at the top of his game here. Jacquet blows those R&B sounds that is very pronounced on "Bottoms Up" to the traditional blues with "Throw It Out Of Your Mind Baby" with some nice ballad work in the mix also, mostly notably the first two tunes in the initial medley on this CD and the first tune on the second one. Leo Parker is his usual reliable self accenting with those low notes on his baritone. He also gets a great solo spot on "Oh, Lady Be Good. …
