SYNCHRONIC.INFO CD of UK Industries, 2002, L25, available from http://www. synchronic.info
This is a CD that looks at and gives information on over 800 UK companies in a cross section of industries, all of which are listed in alphabetical order. The aim of the resource is to be a reference and background guide to a variety of different Business Studies courses.
Content
The CD is split into 3 main sectors. The first sector covers a list of UK companies, followed by a list of UK industries and finally we have an alphabetical listing of companies that can be accessed by a simple alphabet system.
The individual content is mostly on the history of the companies rather than notes on their present structure or current business policies. For example, if we take as an example the page for Black and Decker Ltd we are told what industrial sector it belongs to, the address of its web page, a little potted history and a reference to the invention of the strimmer, but very little else.
Who might find it useful?
This could be useful for students doing a degree course that includes any applied Business or Economics units. AVCE Business students could also use it as an information resource for their portfolio work. …
