Minister orders hospital spotchecks

Welsh health minister Mark Drakeford has ordered a review of the way elderly patients are cared for in Welsh hospitals after an independent report raised concerns about care standards and patient safety at two hospitals run by Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board. Drakeford said poor care would not be tolerated and has instigated spot checks to reassure patients.


Improvements for NI tower blocks

Northern Ireland's social development minister has set out plans to improve conditions for tenants of 32 tower blocks. Nelson McCausland said a comprehensive maintenance and investment strategy, led by Northern Ireland's Housing Executive, was overdue and would benefit nearly 1,900 households.
