Her latest CD, Uncovered, features music more familiar to stadiums than concert halls-think Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Nirvana. Along with playing music, she counts being vegetarian as part of her life.

Q Why rock tunes for your new CD?

We often think of the cello as this melancholic instrument. The new record is kind of revolutionary in the approach I take to the sound. It's not about playing rock music on a cello, it's about using the cello to highlight elements in the music that traditional rock instruments do not. It's mining and uncovering other layers.
