FLORIDA: DATA PROTECTIONS STRENGTHENED

A new law imposes on employers a statutory requirement to safeguard personal information, which includes a person's first name or first initial and last name in combination with a Social Security number, passport number, driver's license number, bank account information or health insurance policy number. Breaches must be reported to the Florida Department of Legal Affairs and consumers within 30 days.
