From polo to showjumping to racing, equestrian sports have always fascinated Hollywood. Showbiz will get a chance to indulge in its love of horses with the debut of the Longines Los Angeles Masters Sept. 25-28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The world's 25 best riders - including Jessica Springsteen and Georgina Bloomberg, whose famous dads may come to cheer them on - will compete for $1 million prize money. But there's also a VIP area, haute cuisine, a DJ, live bands, activities for kids, performances by "horse artists" (think ballet with hooves), art exhibitions and vendors selling everything from scarves to saddles.

The L.A. event is the third leg of the Masters Grand Slam, with other events having been held in Hong Kong and Paris. A weekend highlight is the Saturday night Charity Pro-Am Style & Competition. Riders such as Kaley Cuoco, model Gigi Hadid and Hannah Selleck, Tom's daughter, will take on a tough course in themed costumes for charity. (The Paris event saw riders such as thesp Guillaume Canet, dressed as a '50s greaser, with Marion Cotillard cheering him on.) Style judges in L.A. include Ariana Rockefeller, Kevin Frazier and Tara Lipinski.

The weekend is the brainchild of Christophe Ameeuw, whose stables Les Ecuries d'Ecaussinnes turns out worldclass sporting horses. …
