'Instruments,' 'Evil'to Get TV Spinoff Series

Constantin Film is stepping up its TV series business with spinoffs of "The Mortal Instruments" and "Resident Evil" movies. Chairman Martin Moszkowicz confirmed the news at a launch for another Constantin series, "Shades of Guilt," at the Mipcom TV market in Cannes. The company recently hired an L.A.-based showrunner.

Disney Adds Maker TV Blocks for Halloween

Maker Studios, the large YouTube multichannel network acquired by Disney, is working with Disney Channel and Disney XD to produce TV specials featuring digital talent. In the U.S., the cablers have each committed to an original Makerbranded half-hour special. The first block will air on Disney Channel, highlighting the best Halloween content from the Maker network. The Makerbranded block for boyskewing câbler Disney XD will follow the same format, but will instead feature the best pranks from Maker's network of YouTube creators. Maker also cut a deal with "America's Funniest Home Videos" producer Vin Di Bona for "ShayFV," a 17-episode weekly series hosted by YouTube star Shay "Shay Carl" Butler.

Lena Dunham Eyes Medieval Novel to Adapt
