Turtles Knock Lucy off China Top Spot

CHINA BOX OFFICE: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles topped the Chinese box office with an opening gross of $26.51m, in a week when four new releases made it into the top ten.

Powered by Megan Fox's visit to Beijing, Paramount's reboot of the Turtles franchise pulled in 4.4 million admissions in the week October 27-November 2, knocking last week's champion, Luc Besson's sci-fi action thriller Lucy, to second position. Lucy grossed $16.16m in its first full week for a cumulative total of $37.17m.

New release The Maze Runner came in third grossing $13.7m in its first six days, followed by another opener, Teddy Chen's Kung Fu Jungle, which took $7.82m over three days.

Guardians Of The Galaxy has now grossed $94.89m in China after pulling in a further $5.81m last week for fifth position in the top ten. …
