News and Notes from IREM(R) Headquarters
This month, the Institute is sponsoring the first in what will be a series of professional development seminars targeting executive-level and highly experienced CPM(R) members. Real Estate Portfolio Management, offered in New York City on May 8-9 and in Newport Beach, CA on May 15-16, is co-sponsored with the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business's Center for Urban Land Economics Research.
Real Estate Portfolio Management is intended for property mangers working directly with asset managers and portfolio managers, asset managers whose business responsibilities extend into portfolio management and management company executives seeking to grow business with institutional owners. The seminar is also ideal for real estate professionals who interact with asset and portfolio management issues, as well as anyone seeking to broaden their knowledge of key real estate disciplines, gain cutting-edge information from industry leaders and network with peers.
Timothy Riddough, Ph.D., the E.J. Plesko Professor of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics at the UW - Madison, is the instructor for both seminars, which cost $715 for Institute members and $895 for non-members. Seminar attendees will learn the basic mechanics of portfolio theory, develop an understanding of commercial real estate investment and portfolio management terminology, learn to effectively communicate with portfolio managers and other real estate investment professionals, explore the opportunities and pitfalls of including commercial real estate in the broader investment portfolio, develop an understanding of alternative commercial real estate investment vehicles and learn how to implement a portfolio management strategy.
Successful completion of the seminar will earn two elective credits toward the CPM designation, credit as an elective course toward UW-Madison's Real Estate Certificate Program and 1.4 Continuing Education Units awarded by the UW-Madison Center for Urban Land Economics Research. Register for the seminar online at www.irem.org.
