2015 NATIONAL FINALS

* July 9-12, Virginia Beach, VA

Last season, Open Call gave out more than 575 scholarships worth roughly $ 100,000. But that's not all. The competition, from PTC Productions (the creators of The PULSE on Tour and the "So You Think You Can Dance" Experience), partners with the industry's top agencies and choreographers to help gifted dancers make easy transitions from student to professional.

Last season, roughly 50 dancers were scouted at events and signed to an agency, and this year, Open Call director Heather Adzima wants to increase that number. In addition to representatives from Clear Talent Group, McDonald/Selznick Associates and the Movement Talent Agency, a Broadway choreographer will sit on the judging panel, in hopes that he'll be able to provide new opportunities for competitors.

Open Call is also introducing two new competitive levels. "We had a high demand for an intermediate level," says Adzima. "We were hearing that studio owners felt they weren't able to bring their beginner students, and we wanted to change that." Dancers in the Junior, Preteen, Teen and Senior age divisions will compete at either the "Apprentice" (beginner) or "Company" (advanced) levels. (Dancers can also perform in non-competitive and improvisation categories.)

Adzima is also proud to note that the competition has continued it's official partnership with NBC's "America's Got Talent." Each routine performed at an Open Call event is submitted to the producers of the show, and select dancers are awarded "Fast-Track" passes to jump the line at "AGT" auditions.

Open Call offers special incentives for studio owners, and the competitions are free and open to the public-letting parents and family members enjoy dancers' performances. …
