New Industry Brand Advocates Program Kicks Off

ICBA has launched a brand new program called MainStreeters that is supporting social media savvy community bankers to engage with people inside and outside of our industry about community banking.

The MainStreeters program is harnessing the talents and voices of community bankers who are pas- sionate for their industry to share why banking locally is important. While 20 community bankers are currently involved with the program, ICBA welcomes other community bankers who want to recruit and train others to communicate their passion for our industry over social media.

"The MainStreeters is a group with tremendous networking capabilities for the next generation of com- munity bank leaders," explains Jeff Lile, a MainStreeter and a marketing information analyst for First Harrison Bank in New Albany, Ind. " Com- munity banks will continue to thrive in the future because of groups like the MainStreeters who will work together to bring a new generation into the industry."

The current group of MainStreeters shared their social media exper- tise while meeting their fellow community bank- ers this fall during ICBA's Leadership Development Conference in Memphis. Some connected with their peers at the con- ference through live, spontaneous "tweet-up" gatherings.

"I loved being able to connect with others at the conference and support each other's social media efforts," offers Jaime Faulkner, communications and marketing manager at Mutual Bank in Munde, Ind. "But what I love more are the opportunities that will pres- ent themselves in the future. …
