Oscars 2015: Selma Tops Social Media Buzz

Selma, Benedict Cumberbatch, The Lego Movie and 'Dick Poop' set social networks buzzing following this year's Oscar nominations.

As this year's Academy Award nominations were revealed, film fans took to the internet to express their support and shock at the line-up... but what generated the most clicks?

The figures compiled by Way To Blue - using Sysomos data covering Twitter, news, forums and blogs - saw Martin Luther King Jr biopic Selma lead the list of Best Film nominees.

More than 46,000 comments, representing 22% of all mentions of the Best Film line-up, were generated. Many were shocked at the lack of nominations for the US civil rights drama, including a shutout for lead actor David Oyelowo.

It was followed in the social ranking by Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel, which led the nominations.

Julianne Moore, currently frontrunner for the Best Actress gong, beat her fellow nominees to the top of the buzz chart. …
