Clint Eastwood's box office phenomenon crossed the $200m threshold in its second wide weekend while Lionsgate's Mortdecai and Disney's Strange Magic both flopped.

American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper as the late Navy SEAL sharpshooter Chris Kyle stayed top following a 28% decline to add an estimated $64.4m for $200.1m after five sessions.

A further $5.8m from 333 Imax screens pushed the tally to $18.8m to ensure the film will end the month as the biggest ever January Imax release.

Mortdecai starring Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow arrived in ninth place via Lionsgate on a disappointing $4.1m from 2,648 venues.

The Jude Law submarine thriller Black Sea opened via Focus on $35,000 from five venues.
