Colorado Agricultural Bank Fosters Commmunity Image

Article excerpt

Olathe State Bank in Olathe, Colo., launched the first in a series of publications geared toward fostering the bank's image as a major participant in community projects. The bank chose to distribute the first issue of the Uncompahgre Independent during the city's annual Corn Festival, the pinnacle of local summer activities in the farm-rich Western Colorado valley. The eight-page publication features photos depicting the bank's strong roots in the region and its agricultural enterprises, coupled with local interest stories involving the bank and its customers.

"[Olathe State Bank] is an independent bank in an area where everyone is merging, so we wanted to fuse that identity with the identity of the small independent farmer who comprises our local agricultural community," said Judy King, editor of the Uncompahgre Independent. "It connects, in the public's mind, the independent community bank with an agricultural region that's composed of small independent farms."
