Annie Ross, bom in London, UK to Scottish parents in July 1930. Her given name was Annabelle Allan Short. Her mother's maiden name was Short. Both mom and dad worked in vaudeville. Her career has been long and successful although there were bumps on the road such as kicking a drug habit and filing bankruptcy. Yet despite it all, she is a survivor. She has a recording career that has spanned over six decades and a professional life that started in her childhood. One of the real highlights was the seven albums she made with Dave Lambert and Jon Hendricks., Another was being awarded the National Educators Association Jazz Award in 2010. …
