This Italian group may have the same instrumentation as the Modem Jazz Quartet but their sound is very different. They are more percussive but do swing hard in the process. The one exception is their rendition of "Like Someone In Love" which is close to the way MJQ might handle it. The notes (fortunately in English on the inside of the CD package) indicate the group had been together for several years by the time of the 1959 recording and in fact the only personnel change was a guitarist leaving the group, dropping them from a quintet to a quartet.

Some of the tunes are well known and it is easy to make comparison with other ensembles. Where you can make comparisons you find this group is very much straight ahead with few embellishments. …
