Rodney Whitaker is a multi-talented musician. He is a great leader as well as an accomplished double bass player. Then he also composes (five of the tunes on this disc are from him) and arranges with skill. The man is also an educator, professor at the University of Michigan School of Music. He also teaches at Juilliard. He is now in his mid 40's, a native of Detroit. He has worked with and recorded with Roy Hargrove and Terence Blanchard among others.

His fellow players include the well known sax player, Antonio Hart. It seemed not long along when Hart was a young lion and now he is on the scene for well over two decades. Bruce Barth may not be as well known but he has been on the New York scene since the late 1980's and worked with Stanley Turrentine, Freddie Hubbard, Tony Bennett and like Antonia the list goes on and on. …
