Chicago has a deep history of the blues as well as a cadre of jazz players who don't often wander far away from that marvelous city. Ari Brown is one more person who fits that definition very well. This compact disc demonstrates his deep commitment and knowledge of this art form. He is accompanied on this recording by his brother, Kirk, at the piano. The bass player and drummer have been along for the ride for some time too. The four have a long standing friendship and it shows.

The music here is all either the blues or blues tinged. Ari Brown was formerly a R & B player and some of that comes through here. …
