Sincere apologizes for the lateness of this issue. When I returned from our San Antonio convention my diabetic wife, Stacey was rushed to hospital with a badly infected foot and gangrene which resulted in a hospital stay and the eventual amputation of her right leg. She is now out of danger and in recovery. I needed to spend as much time with Stacey as possible, which unfortunately delayed my work on the Journal. The good news is that the December issue will be back on schedule.

At the San Antonio convention board meeting, my IAJRC colleague Lee Goode resigned from bis position as the IAJRC Registrar and also as a member of the Convention Committee. Lee has done a terrific job on both fronts and he will be sadly missed. He will however still deal with membership issues until the end of this year.

What is really jazz music? We all know it's not "smooth jazz," but what exactly is it? To some it's Diz and Bird, to others it's King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. We have many jazz specialists in our organization. …
