The Pres' Message

Article excerpt

For some years now, IAJRC Board members and Trustees have met during the annual Indianapolis Jazz Record Bash (January 16 and 17, 2015). In past years, Duncan Schiedt and Phil Oldham have co-hosted the event. With Duncan's passing in 2014, it fell to Phil to continue the tradition. With help from others, Phil did a marvelous job. The turnout was smaller, but the spirit was one of great enthusiasm and great fun! Now for a summary of the Board Meeting.

Members of the IAJRC Board and Trustees met Saturday morning, January 17, from 8:30 to about 10:45 at the Clarion Hotel west of downtown Indianapolis. In attendance were Perry Huntoon, Randy Stehle, Sally Fee, Gene Miller, Gary Young, and myself. As you can see, there was no quorum, but that didn't stop the discussion. Among the topics covered:

The $6.00 charge to members is intended to cover replacement copies for those that might have been lost or damaged. When Sally Fee attends music events, she gives free copies to those who express an interest in learning more about IAJRC.

2015 Convention. Perry Huntoon and myself will explore various city choices, including Pittsburgh, the "birth city" for IAJRC. We feel strongly that it is important to have a Convention in 2015, if at all possible. We will make a point of making more extensive use of convention and travel bureaus in possible host cities to gain information and secure their help.

Discontinue PO Box. To save money and reduce inconvenience, the IAJRC post office box will be discontinued and mail will go directly to our new Register, Aaron Gangross, in Texas, and to Ian Tiele.

Comp Ads. Although not in attendance, the group thanked Shelley Finke for her help in working with the American Rag to get our comp ad updated.

Updated Membership Forms. Sally Fee passed out copies of the revised Membership form with the new dues fee. …
