I was surfing Netflix the other day and stumbled upon a rare gem of a documentary that has stuck with me for days. I wasn't looking for it-in fact, I'd never heard of it. But the title intrigued me, the description coaxed me in, and after the first five minutes I was hooked.

Mortified Nation is a film about adults sharing their adolescent selves with perfect strangers-their insecurities as awkward preteens, their search for love and acceptance at a time when they felt ugly and naive, the things they wanted to tell their parents but couldn't. What they share of their past selves is authentic and heartfelt. How do you know that? They are not sharing their memories of adolescence, they are reading straight from the diaries and letters they've kept hidden for years.... sharing on a stage, with a microphone, in front of strangers.
