With more than one hundred forty objects, ephemera, sound recordings, and film clips, "Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, 1861-2008"- on view now at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, Conn.-immerses visitors in the singular experience of "America's Playground." Depictions of beach scenes from Impressionists William Merritt Chase and John Henry Twachtman to contemporary images by Diane Arbus and Yasuo Kuniyoshi cast Coney Island in its varied light as a watering hole for the wealthy and later an entertainment mecca for the masses.

"House and Home," an exhibition of photographs, models, and films on how American dwelling places have changed over the decades, organized by the National Building Museum, traveled to the Mercer Museum in Doylestown, Penn., where it continues till March 15. A "please touch" unit introduces ideas on building materials and different structural methods.
