French Fashion Industry Agrees to Promote Healthy Body Images

With the backing of the French Minister of Health, a number of organizations representing fashion houses, advertising firms, and media outlets signed a charter of good conduct in regard to the future use of top model body images to stave off concerns of promoting anorexia among young girls. Many of the signers recognized this as die first formal step toward helping to combat eating disorders and the growing prevalence of them among adolescents.

A law project made the case before a commission at France's National Assembly in attempts to penalize those in organizations responsible for promoting unhealthy body images. The new guidelines in the charter outlines a series of rules but falls short because it lacks the means to impose the restrictions. …
