Wales takes on non-domestic rates

Welsh finance minister Jane Hutt hailed devolution of non-domestic rates, saying it marks the first milestone of fiscal devolution to Wales. From April 1, the Welsh Assembly assumed full responsibility over the rates, previously only partly devolved. Hutt said Wales can now develop taxes that suit the nation's priorities: 'They will help us deliver our economic and social goals.'


Green light for £llm teaching block

Northern Ireland employment and learning minister Stephen Farry has given the green light to the film construction of a teaching block at Ulster University's Magee campus to accommodate 1,000 additional students. It will include a lecture theatre seating 340.
