* Library Journal announced its 2015 Movers & Shakers. These 50 librarians were chosen because they demonstrate passion for their field, have a vision for the future, and believe in the mission of libraries as an engine of democracy. * The recipients of the 2015 Library Aware Community Award-given by Library Journal and supported by NoveList's Library Aware product-are the communities of the Dothan Houston County (Ala.) Library System (first place), the Saint Paul (Minn.) Public Library (second place), and the Topeka & Shawnee County (Kan.) Public Library (third place). They engage with their libraries to improve citizens' lives and foster lifelong learning.

* Charlotte School of Law student Maritza Adonis received the American Bar Association (ABA) Student Division Silver Key Award for Leadership. She serves as a regional representative and on a national ABA board. In related news, Charlotte School of Law reference librarian Betty Thomas won the Lucile Elliott Scholarship, which is sponsored by the Southeastern Chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries (SEAALL). This financial aid aims to improve Thomas' career in law librarianship and encourage her to stay in the profession.

* Romance Writers of America (RWA) named Lisa Schimmer its RWA Cathie Linz Librarian of the Year for 2015. A senior cataloger at NoveList, Schimmer supports and advocates on behalf of the romance genre, as well as its authors and readers. …
