Primary Source Media, a member of The Gale Group, has announced the release of Women's Studies Archives: International Women's Periodicals Online, a tool designed to assist scholars and researchers on all levels achieve easier and more flexible access to a women's studies resource. The Women's Studies Archives includes a selection of women's journals, newspapers, and magazines, as well as Primary Source Media's History of Women microfilm collection.

The Women's Studies Archives gathers primary sources about major milestones in the history of women. Starting with the release of International Women's Periodicals, this online collection will grow to include abroad selection of rare and archival materials in areas of interest to women's studies scholars and students.

According to the company, the full text of every periodical has been keyed, allowing specific word, phrase, name, or date searchability of the materials selected and edited by renowned scholars and bibliographers in the field. Special search fields provide more targeted document-retrieval options, such as Ads, Articles, Correspondence, Fashion, Literature, Recipes, or Reviews. The table of contents allows sorting of periodicals by place of publication, date of publication, and title. The complete guide to the History of Women microfilm collection is online at no charge, and users can search the index by word, term, author, or theme. According to the company, easily accessible digital facsimiles can be downloaded and printed as required. Both IP-address verification and password-protection registration options are available.

Primary Source Media has also announced the release of American Journey Online, an Internet-based resource that brings together primary source materials in American history and culture across a wide range of eras and historical themes.

Previously available only on CD-ROM, the American Journey collections are now accessible for the first time online for colleges, libraries, and secondary schools. …
