SHRM and CFGI Join International Meeting

Representatives from SHRM and its affiliate the Council for Global Immigration (CFGI) were among 1,000 business and government leaders participating in the Business 20 (B20) meeting that was convened in September in Ankara, Turkey.

B20, which represents 6.8 million businesses in the world's 20 largest economies, provides recommendations to the Group of 20 (G20) heads of state on how to drive strong, sustainable and balanced economic growth, according to its website. SHRM and CFGI representatives were part of the 100-member employment policy task force, which was made up primarily of companies and business associations.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the B20 meeting along with Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund.

The meeting, which attracted attendees from 60 countries, was aimed at developing an agenda for the November meeting of the G20, which is made up of heads of state from 19 countries and the European Union.
