Thinking of the Bullet

I am thinking of the bullet

Hot

Booming

Swift

Leaving smooth tunnel

Through breastbone

Through heart

Through tissue's densities

A tunnel that will devour its speed

Spit it into emptiness

I am thinking of the bullet

Panting

In the abbreviation of its moment

Through taut fixed path

It kills me

. . . I do not die

Thinking of the shadow

Of the witness

Tossed like a corpse near me

I move ahead

Assassinate it

With every step

. . . It does not die

Thinking of the illusion

Scattering its brilliance

Around my crudeness

Sprinkling its colored dust

On the edge of my sword

I kill it

. . . I die

Wild Herds

In my cells, wild herds,

shot forth by the beat of my blood,

flourish

in the vast span of my being . . .

This expanse

is vulnerable to ambiguity.

Particles of anticipation

compose my body. Command
