THE U.S. COMMERCE DEPARTMENT has released a report documenting global market opportunities related to the recruitment of international students for U.S. colleges and universities. The 2015 Top Market Report: Education (July 2015) is part of a new product line from the department's International Trade Administration (ITA)-the Top Markets Series- which project future export opportunities by sector.

Against a backdrop in which the United States' share of international students is declining, the report ranks future export opportunities and explores trends and challenges. Case studies focus on Brazil, China, France and Germany, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam.

According to the report, although the United States is in a strong competitive position within the international education market, there are several challenges that may limit its potential to further strengthen education export opportunities.
