Stiller's Red Hour Partners With Bold Films

Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld's Red Hour Films is partnering with Bold Films to produce a slate of movie, TV and digital projects. Additionally, producer Nicky Weinstock has joined Red Hour, which will relocate its offices to Bold Films' spaces in L.A. and N.Y. Bold Films will provide overhead, development and production financing on independent projects. Red Hour has completed its longstanding firstlook deal at Fox. It also produced comedies including "Zooiander" and "Tropic Thunder." Bold Films produced "Whiplash," "Drive" and Nightcrawler."

Brian De Palma Boards Chinese Action Thriller

Brian De Palma has taken over for the previously announced Xavier Gens to direct action thriller "Lights Out," backed by China's Huace Pictures and Arclight Films. The story revolves around a blind Chinese girl who's unknowingly caught in a plot to expose a topsecret assassination program but is able to use her heightened senses to fight back and become a hero. The film is the first of a $300 million slate to be made by Aurora Alliance Films, the joint venture between Chinese TV producer Huace and Arclight.
