Foreign Shoots Help Boost Backlot Bonanza

Ever since opening two more soundstages totaling 28,000 square feet, Singapore's Infinite Studios has been hard at work feeding the beast with a multitude of International coproductions. The studio recently announced a mixed bag of film and television projects that will make full use of Infinite's facilities both in Singapore and nearby Batam.

The slate, heavy on genre product. Includes the Olga Kurylenko starrer "Android," a scifi drama repped by Fortitude Inti.

Also in the works Is "Headshot," an Indonesian feature starring "The Raid's" Iko Uwais; and "Halfworlds," Infinite's third collaboration with HBO Asia after 2012's "Serangoon Road' miniseries and TV movie "Dead Mine."

Infinite's slate adds to an eventful 2015 for Singapore's film industry. The island played host to two indie productions this year, both with U.S. components: sci-fi film "Equals," starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult, and action thriller "Hitman: Agent 47" starring Zachary Quinto and Rupert Friend making full use of the country's award-winning architecture. …
